Club member Peter Norrie got me started,
I went down to the sea one summer’s eve
I stood there gazing upon her vastness,
The waves gently lapping upon my feet,
The smell of salty air, the sea gulls hoping I’ll give.
Oh how wonderful, this life I live.
Anyways ramblings aside it was a truly magical afternoon, the wind gentle and forgiving, but for one capsize of a Micron with Mac at the helm. Within the fleet there was a Micron, Starling, Optimist, Tigre Cub and 3 Sunbursts.
It was great to see Kate and Michael from Sea Scouts out with their family enjoying a sail in their Sunburst. The kids seemed to enjoy the swimming and playing on the beach as much as the sailing. The discovery of a rather limp hammer head shark did much to enliven the imaginations of the children, although it was best viewed up wind.
Sailing was constant from a little after 3 until 6 in the evening.
Many thanks to all who attended and made it so enjoyable. Thanks to Bruce for thinking up the idea, hope it did not make you too late to dinner. With plenty of summer left lets hope we can have another such gathering before too long.
